- How
Does Eco-Drive Work?
The secret of the Citizen Eco-Drive is the way it absorbs
light, stores it and then releases it to power the watch.
|
 |
- Dials
The dials are made from ceramic or special plastic materials.
These are opaque so that the light sensitive panel is hidden
but allow enough light through to power the watch.
- Secondary
Battery
The electrical energy is stored in a titanium lithium ion
secondary battery and then released as required to operate
the watch. It will keep the watch running for up to
6 months in complete darkness. This means the watch
can be left in a drawer or a bag for a long time before
it will stop working.

- Light
Sensitive Panel
Directly behind the dial is a photo-electric cell that converts
light into electrical energy - even in low light conditions.
A few minutes of winter daylight provides enough power for
one day's usage.
